About InvestDost

Investing in Pakistan, explained plainly — by someone with nothing to sell you.

سرمایہ کاری کو آسان زبان میں سمجھیں — بغیر کسی مشورے یا فروخت کے۔

InvestDost (“your investing friend”) answers the questions people actually ask before they invest: what a CDC account or UIN is, how to open a brokerage or mutual fund account, how dividends, ETFs and pensions work, what a Roshan Digital Account is, and the basics of bank accounts. Ask in English, اردو or Roman Urdu. It explains — you decide.

Independent, and not official

InvestDost is an independent education project. It is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), CDC, NCCPL, the Government of Pakistan, or any broker, bank, asset management company or other financial firm.

  • Examples, not endorsements. When an answer names a bank or fund manager, it's because their public page explains something clearly. It's never a ranking or a recommendation.
  • Not a licensed adviser. InvestDost gives general education, not investment, tax or legal advice, and it can't judge what suits your situation.
  • It can't act for you. It doesn't open accounts, place trades, see your holdings or contact any company on your behalf.

Rules, limits and fees change. Before you act, confirm on the official page linked under each answer.

How InvestDost answers

Every answer starts from official sources and is checked by a person before you see it — so what you read is accurate, consistent and easy to follow.

  1. 1It starts with the official source. Answers are based on pages from PSX and its Knowledge Center, fund managers and banks. Each fact is traced to the page it came from and the date it was checked, and those pages are linked under the answer. Pages we can't verify are never used as a source.
  2. 2It's explained in plain language. Answers come in English, Urdu and Roman Urdu, in everyday words, with tables, formulas and key figures where they help — and every one is reviewed for accuracy.
  3. 3It understands how you ask. Ask the way you'd ask a friend: in any of the three languages, with typos, or as a quick follow-up like “aur documents?”. If your question could mean two things, it asks which one. If it can't answer reliably, it tells you and suggests related questions instead of guessing.
  4. 4It's kept current. Limits, deadlines and procedures are re-checked on a schedule. When a source changes or a figure is due for a check, the answer is flagged for review, and anything badly out of date is hidden until it's confirmed.

What InvestDost will never do

  • Pick for you. No “best stock”, “best fund” or “best bank” — instead, what to compare and where to look.
  • Predict. No price targets, market calls or promised returns.
  • Quote live prices. For share prices and NAVs it points you to the PSX Data Portal and fund managers' own pages.
  • Ask for your details. It never needs your CNIC, account numbers or passwords — and you should never share them in a chat.

Privacy

  • Personal numbers are removed. CNIC numbers, phone numbers, email addresses and IBANs are stripped from your question in your browser before it's sent, and again on our server.
  • Your conversation stays with you. There are no accounts or logins. To understand follow-ups like “aur documents?”, the chat remembers the current topic and language in your browser tab only; it's cleared when you start a new chat or close the tab. We don't store your questions or conversations.
  • Feedback is only kept if you send it. If you use 👍/👎 or “Send feedback”, we keep your rating, any comment and — only if you leave it ticked — your question, with personal numbers removed. Feedback is deleted after 180 days. If you press “Suggest this question”, only that question is kept, for 90 days.
  • Anonymous counts. To see how InvestDost is used, we count how many questions are asked, which answer was shown and in which language — never the words you typed. To count visits and block abusive traffic, we use a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day and can't be turned back into your IP; each browser tab also gets a random number that disappears when you close it.
  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure visits — pages viewed, approximate location, device and where visitors came from. It sets its own cookies and is run by Google under Google's privacy policy. It never receives the text of your questions or the answers. No advertising. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical request logs for a limited time.

Found a mistake?

Tap 👎 under the answer and tell us what's wrong. Answers reported as “Out of date” are added to our re-check list. For anything else, use Send feedback below the chat box.

InvestDost can't resolve complaints about a firm. For a broker, start with the broker, then PSX's investor complaints process. For a bank, start with the bank, then the State Bank's Sunwai portal or the Banking Mohtasib.

Who builds InvestDost

InvestDost is developed by Hafiz as an independent project, to make the first steps into investing in Pakistan clearer for everyone — in the language they think in.
